City History

Hutchinson is named for its founding family, who also just so happen to have been a famous singing group. The Hutchinson Family singers, consisting of Judson, Asa, and John Hutchinson, founded the town that would become this great city in 1855. A post office, stores, and railroad lines prompted the initial growth of the city, which is now home to approximately 14,000 residents.
